Introduced at the end of World War II to replace the worn out and under-gunned M3/M5 Stuart tanks, the M24 Chaffee first saw action against the German Ardennes offensive known the Battle of the Bulge. Lightly armored and fast, the M24 was a nimble scout vehicle that packed the same punch as the M4 Sherman tank. The M24 Chaffee was retired from US service after the Korean War (being replaced by the Walker Bulldog) but has soldiered on in other countries armed serives to modern times. during the Vietnam way, the AVRN (South Vietnamese Army) used Chaffee tanks that were left behind when the French Colonial Army withdrew in the late 1950s.

This model is built to 1/35 scale for use with LEGO minifigs and other Brickmania WWII kits. It features a BrickArms M1919 .30 caliber machine gun, articulated tracks, opening commander’s hatch (fig not included) and traversable turret with elevating main gun. Includes 372 new-condition LEGO and BrickArms elements plus printed building instructions (it is shipped unassmbled).

The original M24 Chaffee kit was built in such a manner that it would not be compatible with the upcoming custom Brickmania Track Links™. Since the Chaffee was out most popular kit we decided to upgrade the design to make it compatible with the new links. While it was being redesigned, minor updates were made to the kit to make the hull shape more accurate, etc. Until the Brickmania Track Links™ reach production stages, the M24 Chaffee will be shipped with stock LEGO chain links for the tracks.

Supplying troops in the field with fresh drinking water has always monumental task for any Army on the go. In World War II the US military used a number of trailers for this purpose, the most common being the G-527 “Ben Hur” trailer, named after one of the main manufacturers. The G527 1 ton trailer was capable of carrying 250 gallons of water and often had a hand pump for dispensing. the G-527 would be towed by any 3/4 ton or larger vehicle

Completed mosaic hanging at Brickmania Toyworks
Brickmania staff and members of the Twin Cities Lego Train Club organized a group build of Vincent Van Gogh’s “Olive Trees with Yellow Sky and Sun,” from the collection of the Minneapolis Institute of Arts. The build took place over two evenings in the fall of 2013 at the MIA’s “Nerd Thursday” event and Brickmania Toyworks’ First Thursday open house. The 48″ x 60″ mosaic was built on 120 small baseplates and containing an approximately 25-30,000 LEGO pieces. Assembly of the mosaic was completed in about five hours, thanks to the multitude of people who turned up to help out. The finished work is now on display at Brickmania Toyworks, where several other large mosaic pieces are also on display.

We have another production run of M2A4 Light Tank kits hot of the assembly line. The M2A4 was the precursor to what was later standardized as the M3 Stuart light tank. The US Marines were the only Allied forces to be equipped with the M2A4 in combat, seeing action during the Gaudalcanal campaign. The elves at Brickmania are extremely busy and need your help decorating the Christmas tree in the Toyworks! Join us on Thursday, December 5th from 5-9pm for our annual ornament making and tree decorating party. We’ll have ornaments on hand to build and hang from the tree. You will receive a raffle ticket for your effort, with prizes that include building sets from Brickmania and LEGO. Brickmania Toyworks is home to the largest fan-built LEGO displays in the country, including two large train layouts, Brickmania’s historical dioramas, a play area with building bricks, and a store filled with LEGO, and select premium after-market products. This is happening as part of the NEMAA’s (Northeast Minneapolis Artists Association) First Thursday Open Studio initiative. Snacks and refreshments will be provided. Click here for directions.
